Slow ride, take it easy…and take in some art while you’re at it! On the first Friday or every month in Portland, you can find a large group of cyclers, slowly strolling around the downtown Art Walk. Portland Slow Riders is open to anyone who would like to take a casual ride through the city (and maybe wear a costume or show off a unique velocipede in process). Meet in Monument Square at 7pm, or just join in as you see the Slow Riders pass by. Click here for more info.
Riding your bike + Raising money for a great local cause = WIN-WIN! Charity races are a great way to get exercise, have fun, and support the important work of organizations in your community. There are a bunch of races in Maine this summer and fall: The Dempsey Challenge, the Lobster Ride & Roll, and the Annual Ride for Autism, just to name a few!
Let a tour guide show you the state while you enjoy the ride! Summer Feet Cycling offers half-day tours in Portland and the Kennebunks and 8 different bike tours in Maine, ranging from day trips to a whole week and from Kennebunk to Acadia.
Grab your SunriseGuide and make your cycling experience even better this summer! Inside your Guide, find coupons for $10 off a bike tune-up from both Gorham Bike & Ski and Ernie’s Cycle Shop (or $15 off if you’re a Bicycle Coalition of Maine member), 15% off your purchase of bike commuter accessories at Back Bay Bicycle, and $5 off your registration for the Maine Lobster Ride from Bicycle Coalition of Maine.
