The SunriseGuide is taking part in the pilot program for Sustainability Assessment offered through Maine Businesses for Sustainability, who posts each Assessment Member’s story.
“Not only does the Sunrise Guide educate consumers about sustainable practices, the company leads by example, sourcing virtually all its own products and services from local businesses. And when you have a large book to print on an annual basis (the Guide), choosing a local vendor comes at a cost. “It would be less expensive to print our Guide with an on-line printing company or out of state, but our entire business is based on supporting and inspiring greener practices and helping consumers find local businesses in order to live more sustainably. To ship the biggest expense of our operations out of state would completely undermine what we’re about” says Heather Chandler, founder of the Sunrise Guide. This integrity has made the SunriseGuide something of a “go–to” for sustainability questions.”
