To foster meaningful dialogue on critical community issues, this series provides a welcoming forum and networking opportunity with presentations by passionate leaders who are making a difference.  The Institute for Civic Leadership (ICL) aims to increase understanding of leadership challenges and opportunities; inspire new ideas for established and emerging leaders; and forge new connections between leaders from all sectors in their region.

Lisa Pohlmann is Executive Director for the Natural Resources Council of Maine (NRCM). For this Breakfast, she will draw on her passion for the outdoors and experience at the helm of Maine’s leading environmental organization to discuss why citizen action is essential to a healthy environment and successful communities.

Demonstrating a strong history of advocacy for the people of Maine, Lisa first joined the NRCM team in 2000 as a member of the board of directors, later serving as board president and in 2008, she became deputy director. Previously, she served as associate director for the Maine Center for Economic Policy, working on sustainable economic development and other social and environmental policy issues. Lisa began her career in Maine as executive director of New Hope for Women, a domestic violence organization in the Midcoast. She has a Masters from the Muskie School of Public Service at the University of Southern Maine. A resident of Jefferson, Lisa has a lifelong love of the outdoors, and regularly kayaks, hikes, skis and camps across the state.
