Coastal Farms and Foods Tour
Coastal Farms and Foods
The Belfast Co-op is sponsoring a tour of Coastal Farms and Food in Belfast, the midcoast’s new food processing hub. Farmers, gardeners and berry growers can now store and process their food products in this new 2 million dollar storage and processing facility. The facility includes a kitchen where food processors can make and sell their own products.
Coastal Farms and Food creates an additional market for locally-grown produce that is less than perfect, increasing farm income and contributing to the security of farmland for farming.
The tour will provide opportunities to explore their food processing facility and meet several of the food processors currently utilizing their commercial kitchen including Cheryl Wixson’s Kitchen, Heiwa Tofu, Julie Ann’s Outrageous! Foods, and Magic Dilly Beans.
Pre-registration is required; participation is limited to 15. The cost is $5. Reserve your place at any register at the Belfast Co-op. You can also register by phone using a debit or credit card by calling (207) 338-2532. Participants will meet at Coastal Farms and Food (directions ).
The community-owned Belfast Co-op, open 7:30am-8pm daily, is located at 123 High Street in downtown Belfast. All are welcome.
